Hitachi C10FCE2 10 inch compound miter saw
Saw arrived in excellent condition, very fast. I'm an occasional user of this saw, and it works great. I plan to add a Freud blade to it and expect even better results.

Great little "knock-around" saw
Got this 10-inch miter to replace a fire-damaged B&D. Came packaged just fine. Nothing broken, brand new out of the box. Does all that I want it to as a homeowner and for its portability, as for larger jobs, I have a 12" Rigid in the garage. Had it less than a week, so have used it sparingly. Could use a finer toothed blade, but that's a nit.

Returned the first one
I returned the first one because the bevel adjustment was so tight that I couldn't loosen. Directions are weak too, trying to tell me the wrong way to turn to loosen the bevel. Got the replacement and it works great! Returning a saw to Amazon is a bit of pain because of the wait time, but you get a full refund on shipping and they pick it up at your door.

Carpenter
I also have the table saw version of this type of saw,the job site saw. Both are from Hitachi, and both are light duty saws. They are light weight and easy to lug around. They both have enough power to do most tasks that you will encounter at a job site and enough accuracy too. I added the laser cutting guide from Rockler, selling for $12.50. It is a useful improvement and you can't beat the price.

What makes these saws great is the weight. My DeWalt Heavy-Duty 12-Inch Dual Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw takes two people to carry comfortably, and requires a good dedicated stand to hold it. By way of contrast, this saw weighs about fifteen pounds and can operate comfortably on an upturned trash can.

This is an excellent saw for the price. You can expect it to do 90% of what you buy a miter saw for, and do it well. Don't get me wrong, these are not the level of tool that one would choose to call furniture grade though.

Good Entry Level Saw
Bought this on Amazon for a simple apartment baseboard project. It did a fine job of cutting 90/45-degree angles. This is my first saw, and at the price I paid, it is cheaper to own than to rent a miter saw from a place like Home Depot. I am definitely not as skilled with wood-working as others out there but I had no trouble working with this saw. I didn't even use all the attachments that it came with. At some point, I will read the instruction booklet and figure out how to use those. There are a some notable drawbacks of this model, however. First, the dust bag is pretty much useless. During my several hours of cutting, the bag collected almost nothing. Second, there is no laser guide, so there is some guesswork involved at least initially. I don't understand why a tool-maker like Hitachi can't put an imprint by the cutting edge which clearly indicates exactly where the saw will make the cut. I also noted that tiny slivers of the plastic piece (which is part of the saw) upon which you place the wood got sliced off during cutting. Thought that was odd since this indicates some kind of misalignment in the cutting assembly. Luckily, this does not interfere with cutting accuracy. All in all, this is an okay tool and I look forward to using it in future projects. For those advanced folks out there, be careful since this saw may not be your first choice.
